Suspense was a tricky topic for me. The first thing that came to mind was Hitchcock but I didn't want to go with my first inclination. The other thing that came to mind was film noir or just the "noir" genre. I have really been enjoying Darwyn Cook's take on the Parker novels and love the flat blue colors he has thrown into the noir mix and this topic seemed like a good excuse to finally try my hand at that.
Noir has been a genre I am interested in and one day I might just have to do a story with it.
Damn. You've set the bar pretty high. You bastard.
ReplyDeleteThanks fellows!
ReplyDeleteMight be one of your best Timberline posts yet, Kev. Good subject choice, good composition, but its the palette choice that really makes it pop and gives it that noir feel. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Patrick. I was worried about the color at first but I think it definitely helps add to the noir feeling. Credit goes to Mr. Darwyn Cook for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteNice. I like all the concave/convex lines you used. Stylee.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, your graphic sensibilities are spot on man! Great piece!
ReplyDeleteYeah this came out pretty sick bro! :D
