Spiderman Villain - Thug #1

Hey, I think thug #1 is my favorite villain in the Spiderman universe.  I think he's been in every movie and comic book and he's always there to let you know that Spiderman can kick ass if he needs to.

Predator the Fett

Just a quick ink sketch. Trying nibs for the first time. My paper might be too smooth.

I wanted to play with a full page of markers. I haven't done this much color in a few weeks, and thought this was the week for it.

Predator Elder

Here's my Predator Elder checking weapons before a hunt...

Fastest, best Predator I've ever drawn.

P R E D A T O R

So I did a Sketch Jam for the Predator pick this week. I wanted to do an ink but I got really sick after Christmas and I have been dragging ass all week, so I figured I better just do a sketch and make sure I actually did this weeks topic. Yeah I have like draining and a sore throat so I was kind of making those purring sounds the Predator makes, so that was kind of funny. Most likely this will be our last posts of 2012 so lets see em folks!

A Goddamned Sexual Tyrannosaurus!

Predator. One of the best one-liner producing movies ever. Did this in my Moleskine sketchbook. Gotta say, I love this little sketchbook...and it's starting to have some kickass drawings in it.

Cheers
Patrick

Preditor

I know it's kinda cheating, but I just drew a comic for Jonathan Baylis and in one panel he's a Predator!

I'm gonna cut your name into him!

It is perfect that this weeks topic is Predator because I just did two Predator drawings for Christmas presents.

First up is, well, the predator done for one of my best friends uncle.  This was the drawing I was working on that was responsible for us bullying Don Austin into this topic:

The second was a present for Mr. Don Austin based on a night of drunken manliness and two Predator movies.  Most the talk consisted of how rad Bill Duke is and how he should make lesser actors his bitch.  I think I gave him a more dignified death than he had in the movie though.

Kinda cheating I know but I figure since I did two it was ok.  Bring it on everybody!

Krampus

I find the story of Krampus very intriguing and entertaining. I hope this post will prompt you to investigate it for yourself. In the meantime, I wish you and yours a very happy and prosperous holiday season ... and may Krampus not deem it necessary to visit you!

Best wishes!
Robert

Done with seconds to spare...

Abe

This isn't really a holiday card or anything. I just felt like getting my Mignola on, I recently got the latest BPRD omnibus (Plague of Frogs 4).

Ho Ho Ho... A Preview

Preview...I love the holidays...love my friends and fam...but they can seriously deter you from accomplishing any artistic goals when it comes down to the holiday season...ha ha! Merry Christmas to yall!

Apocalyptic Greetings

Well... looks like we made it through another doomsday.  It never hurts to be prepared though.  This (until this morning) was my plan:

1. Wear a Chewbacca hoodie
2.  Capture a gorilla
3.  Ride it through the wastelands.

Simple I will admit but some times simple is the best.  We also have a large amount of pizza rolls so I was hoping those would be the new currency.

Anyways... it was originally a polar bear but I just was not going to set you guys up for a lifetime of jokes if I posted a picture of me riding a bear in a Chewy hoodie.

S E A S O N S g r e e t i n g s

I really liked what Patrick Hoover did with his post, so I figured I'd copy his idea and do a holiday card for my graphic novel LENZ. I did it in B&W with the grey tones because that's how I do the comic. Kind of funny to see a B&W holiday card as well. Anyhow I had fun with it, and I look forward to get back to doing pages for it in the new year!

Merry Apocalypse!

A little ink and marker with photoshop colors.

Hello, I'm finally getting around to posting something. Hopefully I'll get to do more here in the future, but this time of year especially has me pretty busy. And I may be cheating a bit here, but I'm posting my design for my holiday card for this year. It doesn't really have a name, but I feel like there should be wolves charging at the lady's command.

Evisceration just screams holiday spirit to me, I guess. :)

Also, if you want to know what I get up to on a daily basis, I'm winding down on a year-long art project on Google+ that I post to (mostly) daily.

Merry Xmas...Outdoorsman Style

Happy Holidays! It's time for the Great Annual Krampus Hunt!

Did this in Manga Studio and Photoshop for some digital drawing practice. Hope you dig it.
Cheers

K A P P A

I didn't get a chance to do this weeks challenge as I was working on some different things, but I still wanted to post something. I'm reworking designs for a comic I've been wanting to start for a while and I did this drawing with a wash and white highlights of the main character this week. I think people should just post art even if they haven't done the weeks challenge. A completed work, sketch, W.I.P., what have you. It's better to have a draw blog with art on it rather than an draw blog with no posts. At least that's my take on it.

Cthulhu a Calling...

Ok, another topic I am not to familiar with lol.  Of course I am familiar with South Park but I haven't watched it in years so this super group is news to me.  Once I read that Cthulhu was part of the team that was what I was going to draw.  This drawing is based on the South Park version.  One day I will do my own take on the great Cthulhu.

Mysterion Rises - Part 1

Here's the first portion of my entry...unfortunately, I was sidetracked this week with some family issues...I hope to get the rest of it completed...

The Coon!

Done at the last Squid Works meeting.  Who would've thought I would actually have time to draw at a meeting?!  Thanks to Jake Roth for the circular paper I drew this on, and John Peters for the refill cartridge for my Pentel Pocketbrush.

Robotech

Sorry for the delay you guys!  First off, big props to everyone who took a shot at this!  Wow!  I forgot how hard it is to draw giant robots!?!?  Thus, I took the lazy route and dove in for a silhouette!  Talk to you guys soon!-

Robotechesque

Kinda, sorta vaguely inspired by Robotech.

M A C R O S S r o b o t e c h

Well I guess I’m going to be the anchor leg for this weeks entry. I’m a huge Macross fan so I just did sketch jams all week long to honor one of my favorite series. Robotech introduced me Macross and if people don’t know Robotech  actually comprised of 3 separate series that have nothing to do with each other in Japan. I included something from all three series, but my favorite of the three is Macross hands down. I’ve been wanting to do some fan art of Macross , as this is its 30th anniversary this year and this gave me a good excuse to final get some drawings for it done. I’ll probably color these up later, but for now I guess you guys get the line art.

Don

All of these were done with ballpoint pen and HB pencil

Actually I did this one a few months back. I wanted to redesign the Hover Tank Mechs arm joints as it was the only thing that bothered me about it's original design. Still a classic! The Hover Tanks were in the second war in the Robotech saga (series is called Southern Cross in Japan). XD

This is Rook on a cyclone, which is from the third war in the Robotech saga (Known as Mospeada in Japan). I was a big fan of those cycle mecha and Rook as a character.
Hikaru (a.k.a. Rick Hunter in Robotech) and his VF-1J Valkyrie in Battloid mode. This is the main mech in the Macross series.
I wanted to do an action scene with a Valkyrie in Gerwalk mode so I really like how this one came out, although my favorite detail is the Excalibur destroid mech blowing away the Zentradi in the background. LOL
I had to get a little "Skull one" action with a Zentradi Battle Pod!
And yeah a little fun with this one, as I thought about if I were a Valkyrie ace in the Macross universe and how I would rock out a custom paint job of my ill VF-IJ. D-Tron smaning em up son! Dayum! Dayum! DAAAAAAAAAAAYUM! XD

Here is my Battloid fresh after a battle in Macross City with Zentradi Battle Pod's deep within the SDF-1...

Robotechy Dude

This week I am swamped in sketch card deadlines that I procrastinated on but I still wanted to do something for Timberline.

I have barely any knowledge of Robotech.  I looked it up online and was so overwhelmed by the amount of info out there I just picked one I thought looked cool.  This one here is Cyclone I think.  Technical robots and mechs are not my thing so I enjoy the opportunity to try something that I struggle with.

I am waiting for Don Austin to come in here and shmang this one out of the park.

ROBOTECH for Timberline.

Grandma-9000

Here's my contribution to this week's challenge (although I don't know how "Robotech" it may or may not be), and to the Kung-Fu Robot Challenge.  Rendered in ink and marker with photoshop color effects.

Grandma9000

Specs:
97 ft., 42.7 ton, Sally-13 Chassis, retrofitted to Mother-2000 and Grandma-9000 specs.

Weapons and defense systems:
  • “YIP” missle defense system
  • Flame-thrower
  • Retractable flail bludgeons

Weaknesses / vulnerabilities:
  • Old and rusty, made of replacement parts
  • Stabilization monopod added to left arm as temporary support device, which also can be used as a weapon.
  • Retractable bludgeons don't retract all the way anymore.
  • Slow

History:
Grandma-9000 is a refurbished defense robot that has had numerous parts replaced over the years. The Grandma-9000 began it's life as a Sally-13 defense training vehicle, but was later retrofitted with detachable, multiple-user capabilities and became a Mother-2000. After the child units began to malfunction, some becoming co-dependent, and some becoming overly incompatible with the mother unit, the child units were repurposed to a military school. Unfortunately, the Mother-2000 didn't function well alone, and a companion “YIP” deployment system was added for stability and ranged defense

It's ABOMINABLE Time!

Now I'm not a huge fan of Adventure Time, but I do enjoy it. Part of me just can't get behind some of the story elements, but I respect it stylistically and see where it fits in the grand scheme of American animation. So I figured that I'd try my hand at emulating the style. The catch for me was then attempting to take a classic character, The Abominable Snowman from the Christmas Classic claymation Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and draw him as he'd appear in Adventure Time. I feel like it was successful and I hope to take this piece to completion.
