In the Shadow

Word on the street is the Shadow knows....that's just what I heard.

Shadow Dancing

"Shadow Dancing" ... black ink, red ink & ink wash on 11"x15" illustration board by Robert Elrod. I used George Rozen's "The Book of Death" as inspiration. Yes, this is a terrible homage to his wonderful pulpy painting but I had less time this week than in previous weeks. I hope that you enjoy it in spite of that.

Shadowing The Shadow

Not really sure what that title means.  Started a new job this week so my time is limited and con season is in full swing. I couldn't miss the topic I picked.  Anywho, THE SHADOW!

That's right! Stay out of the water. Er ... um. Stay out of the sun! Yeah. The sun. It's "Thark Week". Gah!

Slice-o-matic

Here's my entry...another attempt at full digital. I'm learnin' something, I think.

Anyrate, I went with some over the top hero stuff, instead of what I've seen a lot of, the cheesecake Dejah Thoris sexy pose. Not that I don't like those. ;)

Cheers
Patrick

John Coffey

You did say John Coffey, correct Robert?

Oh, I just love me some cornbread and miracles...

:P

Well I’m not going to lie. I kind of phoned this one in. Not due to lack of interest, but I haven’t read any of the books nor have I seen the movie. I just ended up drawing from a picture I found in a movie magazine. LOL

Ces’t la vie. I’ll just sit back and see what everybody else does.

Six-Armed Alien Chef

Hi all... my six-armed alien chef, quick as it is, was inspired by a wonderful trailer I saw this weekend for a film called Jiro Dreams of Sushi - which I now want to see awfully bad. :)

On another note, I know nothing about John Carter (boo-hiss, I know) so I may sit this weeks topic out. Sorry Robert... :)

Spongey Patties

Took the theme this week and gave an ode to a favorite cartoon show around the Hoover house. Get it?

Kanamit Cooking Channel

Welcome to the Kanamit Cooking Channel with your host Thomas the Siamese Triple! Yeah, I cheated and did the old 2 guys standing behind the one guy with their hands shoved through his robe trick. Enjoy!

Soup's on!

Hey boys,
I could have sketched this one out for a week until I found 6 alien chef's that I liked...but I just don't have that kind of time. So here's my offering. Really would have liked to see a crazy new direction, but like I said, I just didn't get it in the amount of time I had.

Soups' on!

Kiss the Cook

I may not have time to color this. It's been a busy week and i still have stuff to get done but I like the sketch so I'd like to see it taken further. We shall see.

Straight Outta Rigel VII

How could this not happen?! I imagine the mallet is for tenderizing humans or at least knocking them out for proper preparation. Anywho, never drawn a Simpsons character before, seemed like the perfect opportunity.

It's a cookbook!!!!!!!

This one was a lot of fun! I might have to color it sometime. Well who's up next?! :D

Patches...he'll keep you in stitches!

Hey boys, meet patches...

He has a skin condition that makes it unhealthy for him to wear clown makeup. His solution..."barrow" some other poor clown's skin and wear it with a grin.

This was a lot of fun. Everyone's entries are killer!

Catch y'all later,

Jeff

Send in the Clown

I drew inspiration from the clown in the movie Zombieland. You can see that I took a few liberties with him as well. Those zombies didn't have the filmy eyes that I sometimes prefer. Screw it. This is my version. Hope you enjoy!

Stay Creepy!
Robert

Blinky

Well, if you grew up in Denver, you undoubtably know the institution that is Blinky the Clown. As a child I loved the guy, his TV show, and his hypnotic way of singing happy birthday to all the children. As an adult I visited Blinky's overstuffed Broadway antiques store, aptly named "Blinky's," and was always off-put by how grumpy my favorite childhood clown really was. I often thought, 'I loved Blinky, but this motherfucker will probably kill you."

PS. We need a header image designed.
I suppose I just volunteered myself. Shit. Lol!

Killer Clown by Kevin Gentilcore

I decided to go with a mercenary type killer clown for my entry. This one is definitely outside my comfort zone :)

Not sure i'm doing this right. Never used blogger before. Here is my Killer Clown.

Killer Klown

I just finished my Killer Klown. Had fun with it, and even watched the movie "Killer Klowns from Outer Space" for the hell of it. I watched all of the special features on the DVD...that was painful. Anyhow I can't wait to see what everybody comes up with and to see what gets chose for the next pick!

Killer Klowns...From Outer Space!

Guess I'll be the first to post! First off, thanks Don for picking a subject I wouldn't have thought of myself. Good opportunity to try stuff out of my comfort zone. And because that's the case, I present to you my first fully digital piece piece of art! Did the whole thing in Photoshop; something I've never done before.

The movie 'Killer Klowns from Outer Space' was just the first thing that popped into my head when I read the theme. So there you go.

Can't wait to see what the rest of the guys do!

Cheers
Patrick
